Over the past three years, Microsoft has added hundreds of new features through Windows 10 feature updates. Most PC users are unaware of some of the best features that have been introduced through feature updates. In this article, we will discuss ten lesser-known features of Windows 10. In no particular order, here are ten lesser-known features in Windows 10.
Dynamic locking
If you turn on the dynamic lock feature, your Windows 10 PC can automatically lock when you walk away from the computer. For those of you wondering how it works, your Windows 10 PC automatically locks when the phone you’ve paired with it goes out of Bluetooth range of your PC. You can find instructions on how to set up the dynamic lock feature in the Windows 10 manual in the step-by-step guide.
Set a network data limit
Windows 10 lets you not only see the data you’ve used in the last 30 days, but also set a data limit for your network so you can avoid paying overage bills. See our Network Data Limit setting in Windows 10 instructions.
Night lamp
All the screens there emit blue light, which can keep you up late at night. Also, the default blue light isn’t easy on your eyes. The Night light feature in Windows 10 can display a warmer color. It also offers the option of automatically changing the display to warmer colors at sunny or scheduled times. We explained the feature in our how to turn on and use the Night light feature in Windows 10 guide. Go to the Settings app > System > Display to turn on the Night Light feature.
Windows Sandbox
Windows Sandbox is available in version 1903 and later. It is an isolated environment for running and testing programs without affecting the Windows 10 host operating system and files. \ t The feature is perfect for running a program you don’t trust but need to run. For detailed information about the feature, see our guide to using Windows Sandbox features.
Near Share
Nearby Share is one of the best features of Windows 10. With Share Share, you can quickly transfer documents and pictures to nearby PCs via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Your phone
Your Phone is a recently introduced app for Windows 10 that lets you access text messages and photos on your Android device (Android 7.0 or later) directly from your computer. In addition, it also allows you to view and send text messages directly from your Windows 10 PC. These features are currently exclusive to Android devices.
Eye control
Did you know that you can control your Windows 10 PC by just moving your eyes? Yes, now you can control your computer without using a mouse, keyboard or touch. The new eye tracking technology in Windows 10 requires a compatible eye tracking device.
Import photos wirelessly from your smartphone
The Photos app (in 1903 and later) on Windows 10 lets you import photos from Android and iOS devices over Wi-Fi. For this, you need to install the official Photos Companion app on your smartphone.
Track your lost Windows 10 device
NOTE: This feature has been a part of Windows 10 since it was introduced, but we think it’s one of the lesser-known but very useful Windows 10 features. You don’t need to install and pay for an expensive program to track a lost Windows 10 device. Windows 10 has a built-in Find My Device feature that allows you to always track your Windows 10 device. If you have a Windows 10 laptop or tablet, turn on Find My Device right away. For step-by-step instructions, read How to Use Find My Device in Windows 10. \ t
Spell check and autocorrect in all programs
By now you probably know that only select programs like Office Word offer spell check and autocorrect features. For example, these features are not present in Notepad by default. By enabling spell check and autocorrect in Windows 10 for hardware / physical keyboard, you can enable spell check and autocorrect for all programs. This is a great feature that is not turned on by default. See how to enable spell check for all programs in Windows 10 guide to learn the same.
